The City of Miami is a municipality with many exclusive neighborhoods. The Central Business District or Downtown Miami evolved over the years to become a major Metropolitan area with commercial and residential complexes. Downtown Miami is considered the area north of the Miami River and south of the I-395 between Biscayne Bay and I-95. Immediately North of I-395 is the Omni area which includes numerous hi-rise condos and rental apartments.
Downtown Miami and Omni are for people who want an urban lifestyle in a tropical setting. With views of the Biscayne Bay and if high enough even the Atlantic, these buildings offer dramatic views both during the day and night. Downtown night life is full of activities thanks to the numerous restaurants, Arena, Performing Arts Center and more. With an average Walkscore of 92, Downtown Miami may be ranked among the top pedestrian Cities in the US.
In addition Downtown Miami is interconnected through a network of free Metromover stations that start on the south in Brickell and end on the north in the Omni area. It is also connected to Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, South Miami and Dadeland through Metrorail. By 2012 you will be able to even go to Miami International Airport through the Metrorail, making Downtown Miami a highly connected city. For some Downtown Miami offers the option of living without the use of an automobile.
